NEW DELHI – The Electronics and Computer Software Exports Promotion Council sees only an indirect and limited negative impact of the ongoing war in West Asia on India's exports in the two categories, according to Gurmeet Singh, chief executive officer of the council. "Production line is intact. We are catering to all the orders, but the only thing, because of this logistics and shipping disruption, the delivery from the Indian side to their suppliers may be slightly delayed," Singh told Informist Tuesday on the sidelines of the India Electronics Expo 2026.

Demand for computer software exports remains largely unaffected from the impact of the war, Singh said. In the event that the West Asia war continues for longer, margins of electronics export companies may see some pressure, he said.

"Thankfully, the part of our supply chain, which is Korea, Japan, even China, so that remains unaffected as of now, even Russia. And the exports which (we) are making from here, the alternative lines are open," Singh said. While Dubai is the gateway to the world for India's electronics products, its share is negligible as a consumption market, he added.

Answering a query on the participation of representatives from BRICS nations in the event, Singh said the focus on member countries has risen with India assuming the presidency of the intergovernmental organisation this year. "The ministry is talking to all export promotion councils that whatever programmes we're doing...we're making sure that (there is) a little extra outreach to the BRICS countries," Singh said.

On his expectations from the three-day electronics exposition, Singh said, "I think we should at least surpass the previous year targets by almost 25%." Over 500 memorandums of understanding, which generated business worth around INR 2 billion, were signed in the expo held last year, Singh said.  End
