--HUL: Not in any discussions of divestment of foods portfolio
KOLKATA – Unilever Plc has got an offer from McCormick & Co. for its foods business and is in discussions with it but there is no certainty that any transaction will be agreed, Hindustan Unilever Ltd. said Friday citing the parent company's response to media speculation.
On its part, Hindustan Unilever told the bourses that it is not in any discussion to divest its foods portfolio and that the portfolio remains an important and attractive business segment for the company.
Following Unilever's clarification to the London Stock Exchange, McCormick too issued a statement confirming such talks. "While these discussions are ongoing, there can be no certainty or assurances as to whether an agreement for a transaction will be reached or as to the terms or timing of any such transaction," McCormick said.
"McCormick regularly evaluates its portfolio and strategic options in pursuit of maximising shareholder value and consistent with its fiduciary duties and in consultation with its financial and legal advisors," McCormick said.
In July 2022, Unilever had exited its tea retailing business globally except in India where HUL is the market leader.
For the December quarter, HUL had reported a net profit of INR 70.75 billion on a revenue of INR 158.05 billion. At 1413 IST, shares of HUL were marginally up at INR 2,081.50 on the National Stock Exchange. End
