NEW DELHI – Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi Thursday said that a further attack by the US and Israel on its energy infrastructure will be retaliated with much more force than the last attack.
"Our response to Israel's attack on our infrastructure employed fraction of our power," Araghchi wrote on social media platform X. Iran Thursday fired missiles at oil and gas facilities across Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates, in retaliation to Israel's attack on the South Pars gas field of Iran.
The attack on Qatar's Ras Laffan energy complex caused "extensive damage", as per media reports. The attacks drew sharp reactions from the Gulf countries and have heightened tensions in the region.
"The only reason for restraint was respect for requested de-escalation. Zero restraint if our infrastructures are struck again," Araghchi said, adding that any end to this war "must address damage to our civilian site". The attacks on energy installations have led to a spike in energy prices.
Meanwhile, India's External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar Thursday spoke with his Israeli counterpart Gideon Sa'ar over the situation unfolding in West Asia.
"Had a telecon with Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar of Israel this evening. Exchanged views on the ongoing West Asia conflict and its many repercussions," Jaishankar shared on X. India is seeking cessation of hostilities in West Asia. End
