--Fitch assigns Capri Global short-term issuer default rating of 'B'

NEW DELHI – Fitch Ratings Tuesday assigned Capri Global Capital Ltd. long-term foreign and domestic currency issuer default ratings of 'BB-', the company said in an exchange filing. The rating agency has also assigned a 'B' rating to Capri Global's short-term issuer default rating.

The ratings reflect Capri Global's moderate non-bank lending franchise, exposure to relatively riskier mass-market borrowers and construction finance, a narrower though expanding funding base, and exposure to key-person risk, Fitch said in a release. This is balanced by a largely secured loan mix, data- and policy-driven risk management, resilient asset-quality and profitability record, and generally adequate capitalisation, the rating agency said. It said the non-banking finance company's rating can improve if it expands its loan portfolio, showcases a record of generally sound asset-quality management, and has adequate capital buffers. 

In the December quarter, Capri Global reported a net profit of INR 2.21 billion on revenues of INR 9.41 billion. Tuesday, Capri Global's shares ended 1.1% lower at INR 169.71 on the National Stock Exchange.
