AHMEDABAD – Maruti Suzuki Ltd. aims to achieve annual production capacity of 4 million units annually after 2029-30 (Apr-Mar), the company said in its investors presentation filed with stock exchanges on Tuesday.
For February, Maruti Suzuki produced nearly 214,000 vehicles, which translates to over 2.6 million per annum, against its existing production capacity of nearly 2.4 million vehicles per annum. The company Tuesday said it would achieve its target of having capacity to make over 4 million cars per annum after FY30. This would include additional 1 million per annum capacity coming up at its new Gujarat plant, expected to be operational by FY28. The company also proposes to manufacture 1 million units at Kharkhoda facility, operationalise the additional fourth line of 250,000 per annum capacity at Hansalpur plant from FY26, and add 100,000 units at the Manesar plant, the presentation shows.
The company said it also plans to introduce seven new sports utility vehicle models in India over the coming five-six years. For the first 11 months of 2025-26 (Apr-Mar), Maruti Suzuki India's share in the SUV market increased to 19.6% from 16.8% in FY20. This market share gain was driven by several new SUV launches, including eVitara in February 2026, Jimny in June 2023, Fronx in April 2023, Grand Vitara in Septermber 2022, and Brezza in June 2022. What gives the automaker this confidence is its belief that India has just entered the phase of demographic dividend, with a young population of over 700 million. This would be a phase of consumption and economic growth led by young employable population, the company said in the presentation.
Late last month, a Maruti Suzuki official had also shared the company's plans to have around 600-700 Nexa Studio outlets by 2031, and increase sales of cars from Nexa Studio outlets to 30% from around 8-10% currently. Of its 4,500 sales outlets, around 750 are Nexa outlets. While Arena outlets largely sell affordable mass-market cars, Nexa outlets focus on providing customers a more premium experience through the sale of higher-end vehicles. The first Nexa Studio outlet was launched in August 2024. Maruti Suzuki sells Baleno, Fronx, Grand Vitara, XL6, Ignis, Jimny, Invicto, and its newly launched electric vehicle e Vitara through NEXA.
For the December quarter, Maruti Suzuki reported a net profit of INR 37.94 billion on revenue of INR 498.92 billion. At 1140 IST, its shares traded 0.1% lower at INR 12,740 on the National Stock Exchange. End
