PM Modi launches Adani Ports' Haldia terminal with 4 mln tn annual capacity

MUMBAI – Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday inaugurated Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd.'s Haldia bulk terminal, the country's first fully automated dry bulk facility, the company said in an exchange filing. Strategically positioned on the western bank of the Hooghly River, the terminal is designed to handle imported coal and a range of dry bulk commodities. It has an annual handling capacity of 4 million tonnes of dry bulk cargo, the company said in the filing. The terminal was developed under a 30-year concession period through the design, build, finance, operate and transfer model by Adani Ports' subsidiary, HDC Bulk Terminal Ltd.

 

Since the commencement of the terminal's construction, the company has executed infrastructure works such as installation of a 2,000-tonne railway wagon loading system, commissioning of a 1.54 kilometre dedicated railway line, refurbishment of the existing jetty, installation of advanced conveyor systems, deployment of two stacker-cum-reclaimers, and addition of two mobile harbour cranes, it said in the filing. 

 

Adani Ports reported a consolidated net profit of INR 30.54 billion for the December quarter on consolidated revenues of INR 97.05 billion. Friday, the stock closed 2% lower at INR 1,363.20 on the National Stock Exchange.  End
