IMD sees severe heatwave conditions in parts of Himachal Pradesh till Sat

MUMBAI – The India Meteorological Department has forecast severe heatwave conditions in parts of Himachal Pradesh till Saturday. Heatwave conditions are likely in some pockets of Odisha on the same days and in Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Konkan, Saurashtra and Kutch on Friday, the department said.
It has also forecast hot and humid conditions in some coastal areas of Gujarat state, Konkan, and Goa on Friday. Similar conditions are likely over Kerala till Saturday.
In the western Himalayan region, a gradual rise in maximum temperatures by 3-4 degrees Celsius is expected during the next two days, IMD said. On the other hand, a gradual fall in maximum temperature by 3-5 degree Celsius is likely over plains of northwest India during the next seven days except over east Uttar Pradesh, where no significant change in maximum temperatures are likely during the next two days and a gradual fall by 2-4 degree Celsius is seen during the subsequent three days, the department said.
Meanwhile, heavy rainfall and snowfall is likely over Arunachal Pradesh till Monday, IMD said. The department also expects heavy rainfall over sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim till Monday. It has issued an orange alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall accompanied with thunderstorm and lightning in several districts of Arunachal Pradesh on Friday. IMD has also issued an orange alert for a few districts in sub-Himalayan West Bengal on Friday. End
