--Cabinet OKs INR 29.05 bln for railway line from Santragachi to Kharagpur 

--Cabinet OKs INR 15.69 bln for railway line from Sainthia to Pakur 

 

NEW DELHI – The Union Cabinet Tuesday approved two railways projects worth INR 44.74 billion. One is a fourth line spanning 111 kilometres from Santragachi to Kharagpur in West Bengal at an estimated cost of INR 29.05 billion and the other is a fourth line covering an 81 km stretch from Sainthia in West Bengal to Pakur in Jharkhand at an estimated INR 15.69 billion. 

 

These projects will cover five districts across the two states, the goernment said in a release. The routes are essential for transportation of commodities such as coal, stone, dolomite, cement, slag, gypsum, iron and steel, and foodgrains. The proposed capacity enhancement will improve rail connectivity to several prominent tourist destinations as well, as per the release.  End
