NEW DELHI - JSW Steel Ltd. Tuesday reported a consolidated steel production of 2.37 million tonnes for February, down 2% on year. In India, production during the month fell marginally on year to 2.31 million tonnes as the blast furnace 3 at the Vijayanagar facility in Karnataka is under shutdown for capacity upgrade since September, the company said in an exchange filing.
Production at the company's Ohio operations in the US fell 20% year-on-year to 60,000 tonnes in February. This decline in production was on account of ramp up of operations after caster upgrades in January and extreme weather conditions due to winter storm, the company said.
Excluding the production contribution by Vijayanagar plant's blast furnace 3 from last year's base, the year-on-year volumes grew approximately 8% in February, driven by full ramp up of subsidiary JSW Vijayanagar Metallics Ltd., the company said.
The company's domestic capacity utilisation for February stood at 88%, the filing said. Excluding the blast furnace 3 capacity, the utilisation was at approximately 97% for the month.
For the December quarter, JSW Steel reported a consolidated net profit of INR 21.39 billion on a consolidated revenue of INR 459.91 billion. At 1056 IST, shares of the company traded 0.8% higher at INR 1,202.30 on the National Stock Exchange. End
