--GAIL: Assessing if need to cut gas supply to downstream customers
MUMBAI – GAIL (India) Ltd. Thursday said it is assessing the need to cut gas supply to downstream customers. The move comes after Petronet LNG Ltd. Wednesday issued a force majeure notice due to constraints faced by certain LNG vessels arising from restrictions owing to the US-Iran conflict.
LNG supplies to GAIL from other sources remain unaffected, the company said in an exchange filing. "At this stage, the potential impact of the ongoing Force Majeure situation cannot be quantified," the company said. The allocation of LNG quantities to GAIL has been reduced to zero with effect from Wednesday due to supply restrictions imposed by Petronet LNG.
At 1334 IST, shares of GAIL (India) were traded at INR 156.93 apiece on the National Stock exchange, up over 1.5%. For the December quarter, the company reported a net profit of INR 16.03 billion on revenue of INR 340.76 billion. End
