Glenmark Pharma arm gets US FDA final nod for asthma inhaler

MUMBAI – Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Ltd.'s subsidiary Glenmark Specialty SA has got final approval from the US Food and Drug Administration for fluticasone propionate inhalation aerosol. It is an inhaler used to prevent asthma symptoms.

 

Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Inc., another subsidiary of Glenmark Pharma, will distribute the inhaler starting this month. The approved drug is equivalent to the FloVent brand inhaler of GlaxoSmithKline Intellectual Property Ltd. FloVent had sales of around $520 million in the US for the 12 months ended January.

 

For the December quarter, Glenmark Pharma had reported a consolidated net profit of INR 4.03 billion on a revenue of INR 39.01 billion. Monday, its shares had closed at INR 2,123.30 on the National Stock Exchange, down 0.6%. The stock markets were shut Tuesday for Holi.  End
