--SpiceJet on SC order: Will comply with all court directions

MUMBAI – SpiceJet Ltd. will comply with all the directions given by the Supreme Court in arbitration dispute with Sun Group founder Kalanithi Maran and KAL Airways Pvt. Ltd. The airline will deposit the remaining INR 1.45 billion in court, it said in a statement on Friday.

Earlier in the day, the Supreme Court rejected SpiceJet's plea against Delhi High Court's Jan. 19 order asking the airline to deposit INR 1.45 billion. "SpiceJet would like to assure all stakeholders that this development has no impact on its day-to-day operations," the statement said.

SpiceJet is hopeful it will get a favourable outcome from Delhi High Court over refunds asked from KAL Airways and Kalanithi Maran. "SpiceJet remains confident of receiving a potential refund of INR 449 crore (INR 4.49 bln) on the culmination of this legal process," it said.

For the quarter ended December, the company reported a consolidated net loss of INR 2.61 billion on a revenue of INR 14.08 billion. Friday, its shares closed at INR 16.08 on the BSE, up over 1%.  End
