--Abbott India, Novo Nordisk partner to commercialise Extensior semaglutide
MUMBAI – Abbott India Ltd. will distribute Novo Nordisk's semaglutide drug brand Extensior, which is a second brand of Ozempic, the company said in an exchange filing Friday. The drug is used to treat type 2 diabetes and also helps with weight loss and reduce risk of heart disease.
"This partnership leverages Novo Nordisk's scientific leadership in GLP-1s and Abbott's strong distribution network to expand access in India to a high-quality, evidence-based diabetes therapy, beyond regions Novo Nordisk currently serves," the company said.
For the quarter ended December, Abbott India reported a net profit of INR 3.76 billion on a revenue of INR 17.24 billion. Friday, its shares closed at INR 26,530 on the National Stock Exchange, down 0.7% from Thursday. End
