--Info Edge or its arms to invest INR 2.5 bln in B8 Fund I 

 

MUMBAI – Info Edge (India) Ltd. will acquire units of B8 Fund I for INR 2.5 billion, directly or through its wholly-owned subsidiaries. Info Edge's subsidiary Smartweb Internet Services Ltd. will be the sponsor and investment manager of B8 Trust, which owns the fund, and all its schemes. Info Edge will invest the amount in one or more tranches.

 

Introduced by B8 Trust, the B8 Fund I scheme is a category-II alternate investment fund and was launched on Feb. 12. "...the objectives of the Scheme will be to generate long-term growth for the contributors and support Indian entrepreneurial ecosystem by investing in growth stage tech-enabled companies in India (or primarily focused in India)," Info Edge said in an exchange filing.

 

The B8 Fund I scheme will be active for eight years from execution of the contribution agreement. The scheme may be extended for up to two years after getting consent from two-thirds of contributors. 

 

For the December quarter, Info Edge reported a net profit of INR 2.46 billion on revenue of INR 7.65 billion. At 1243 IST, Info Edge shares traded at INR 1,047.60 on the National Stock Exchange, up slightly from Wednesday's close.  End
