--Balkrishna Industries commissions capacity of 800 tyres/day at Bhuj plant 

 

MUMBAI – Tyre manufacturer Balkrishna Industries Ltd. has commissioned additional capacity of 800 tyres per day at its plant in Bhuj, Gujarat. The manufacturer invested INR 7.5 billion for the capacity addition. The capital expenditure was financed through internal accruals. The additional capacity can be used for both commercial vehicle radial tyres and off-highway tyres, the company said in an exchange filing Tuesday.

 

Balkrishna Industries said it has also completed additional power production capacity at its plant in Bhuj as part of the capital expenditure announced in May. Following the expansion, the installed capacity of the power plant has increased to 64 megawatts from 40 megawatts.

 

In August 2024, the company had approved capital expenditure of INR 13 billion for off-road tyres in a phased manner at its Bhuj unit. In May, the company had approved additional capital expenditure of nearly INR 35 billion to set up additional production facilities at Bhuj for carbon black, the power plant, commercial vehicle tyres, rubber tracks, and passenger car radial tyres.

 

For the December quarter, Balkrishna Industries reported a net profit of INR 3.75 billion on a revenue of INR 27.30 billion. At 1423 IST, shares of the company were down over 1% at INR 2,484 on the National Stock Exchange.  End
