MUMBAI – ABB India Ltd. reported another weak quarter, with its top line for the quarter ended December growing at its slowest pace in three quarters and its bottom line falling for the third consecutive quarter. This came despite a slower year-on-year rise in total expenses during the quarter.

The company's net profit for Oct-Dec fell 18% on year to INR 4.33 billion, largely in line with the expectations of INR 4.35 billion. The company earned INR 35.57 billion as revenue from its core operations, up nearly 6% on year and slightly higher than the INR 34.38 billion predicted by the Street. Sequentially, the net profit rose around 6% and revenue rose over 7%.

The company's revenue from its electrification segment, which comprises a bulk of its overall sales, rose over 6% on year to INR 15.98 billion in the December quarter. Its revenue from the motion segment rose around 7% on year to INR 12.02 billion in Oct-Dec. All the company's verticals, barring robotics and discrete automation, registered a growth in revenue in the latest quarter.

The company's overall expenditure rose 11.3% on year to INR 30.56 billion during the quarter, despite slight decline in the cost of raw materials to INR 16.47 billion. Its other expenses were also largely flat on year at INR 5.31 billion. The surge in expenses was mainly due to a 50% on-year jump in employee benefit expense to INR 2.91 billion. The company booked INR 2.72 billion under expenses towards the purchase of stock-in-trade. The company spent INR 659.40 million on provisions towards the new labour code implementation.

The company reported operational earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation of INR 5.18 billion, down from INR 6.39 billion in the year-ago quarter. Its EBITA margin contracted to 14.6% from 19.0% in the year-ago quarter. During the quarter, ABB India had received total orders worth INR 40.96 billion, as per the press release. The company noted that Oct-Dec saw the "highest fourth quarter orders in the last five years." In 2025, the company had received total orders worth INR 141.15 billion.

For the full year ended December 2025, the company's net profit fell around 11% on year to INR 16.68 billion, while its revenue rose more than 8% on year to INR 132.03 billion. The company said it would pay a final dividend of INR 29.59 per share for 2025 and set the record date for the same as May 2. The company declared its results after market hours. On Thursday, shares of ABB India closed 3% lower at INR 5,719.50 on the National Stock Exchange.  End
