MUMBAI – PI Industries Ltd. Thursday reported a sharp decline in its net profit for the December quarter owing to a sharp fall in the company's net sales.
The company's net profit was INR 2.82 billion for the December quarter, down nearly 34% on year. Sequentially, the company's net profit declined nearly 43%. Analysts had expected the net profit to be INR 3.11 billion for the December quarter.
The company's net revenue declined sharply to INR 12.70 billion, down nearly 29% on year, for the December quarter. This is below the analysts' expectation of INR 16.40 billion. Sequentially, the net revenue declined nearly 28%.
The company declared an interim dividend of INR 5 per share, with Feb. 23 as the record date.
The company's total expenses for the December quarter declined nearly 25% on year to INR 9.80 billion. PI Industries incurred a one-time cost of INR 206 million for implementation of the new labour codes in the Oct-Dec period.
For the Apr-Dec period, the company's net profit was INR 12.37 billion, down over 16% on year. Meanwhile, the revenues for the Apr-Dec period were down over 19% to INR 47.91 billion.
Thursday, shares of the company closed nearly 2% down at INR 3,222.30 on the National Stock Exchange. The company announced its quarterly results post market hours. End
