MUMBAI – Petronet LNG Ltd. posted a marginal decline in net profit for the December quarter as its revenue fell on year. This was the third consecutive quarter in which the company reported a fall in the bottom line while its top line fell for the fifth consecutive quarter.
The company posted a net profit of INR 8.48 billion for the December quarter, down over 2% on year. The net profit for the December quarter undershot analysts' expectations of INR 8.62 billion. The company's revenue from operations was INR 111.64 billion for the December quarter, down nearly 9% on year, with analysts expecting the revenue at INR 113.41 billion.
Petronet LNG recorded a rise in other income to INR 2.16 billion for the December quarter, up over 10% on year.
The company's total expenses fell to INR 102.36 billion for the December quarter, down over 9% on year, led by a decline in the cost of materials consumed, which makes up for over 93% of the total expenses. The cost of materials consumed fell nearly 10% on year to INR 95.38 billion.
Petronet has identified a cost of INR 254.4 million for the December quarter and nine months ended Dec. 31 due to implementation of the new labour codes.
In January, Petronet had entered into a master regasification agreement with its promoter Oil and Natural Gas Corp. Ltd. under which Petronet will supply liquified natural gas regasification services to ONGC for five years at its Dahej regasification terminal, Gujarat.
The company's net profit for nine months ended December was INR 25.05 billion, down over 12% on year. Its revenue from operations for the nine months was INR 340.53 billion, down nearly 12% on year.
Thursday, shares of the company closed at INR 297.15 per share on the National Stock Exchange, down over 2%. The results were announced post market hours. End
