NEW DELHI – Escorts Kubota Ltd. Tuesday said its board has approved purchasing around 154 acres of land in Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority, Uttar Pradesh, for up to INR 5.93 billion to enhance its capacity to build tractors, construction equipment, and other items. The company plans to enhance tractor capacity by 60,000 units per annum and construction equipment capacity by 15,000 units per annum in the first phase.

Escorts Kubota will fund this investment from the proceeds of an earlier preferential issue of shares to Kubota Corp. and through internal accruals. The company can currently build up to 170,000 tractors and 10,000 units of construction equipment per year. In 2024-25 (Apr-Mar), capacity utilisation at its tractor unit and construction equipment unit was 65% and 60%, respectively.

The company will invest INR 5.93 billion in one or more tranches to set up this greenfield project. Escorts Kubota may invest further in the land, as the detailed project report has an indicative investment outlay of INR 2.27 billion.

The company reported net profit of INR 3.62 billion on revenues of INR 32.61 billion for the December quarter. Tuesday, its shares closed 1.2% higher on the National Stock Exchange at INR 3,823.60.  End
