MUMBAI – JSW Steel Ltd. Tuesday said its consolidated crude steel production for January fell 2% on year to 2.48 million tonnes, according to an exchange filing. Its domestic plants produced 2.46 million tonnes of steel during the quarter, largely unchanged from 2.45 million tonnes a year ago.
The company's domestic capacity utilisation for January, including the blast furnace 3 output from Vijayanagar plant, was at 85%, and excluding this plant, it was 93%. The blast furnace 3 at Vijayanagar has been under shutdown from September-end for capacity upgradation and is expected to be commissioned by the end of the March quarter, the company said in an exchange filing.
JSW Steel USA's Ohio unit produced 17,000 tonnes of crude steel in January, down 74% on year. The output in the region fell due to scheduled outage for caster upgrades from Dec. 15 to Jan. 11, the company said.
For the December quarter, JSW Steel reported a consolidated net profit of INR 21.39 billion on a consolidated revenue of INR 459.91 billion. At 1138 IST, shares of the company traded 0.5% higher at INR 1,251.60 National Stock Exchange. End
