MUMBAI – Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd. Thursday reported a year-on-year fall in both its bottom and top lines for the December quarter. The company's bottom line fell on year for the seventh quarter in a row.
The public-sector railway infrastructure company reported a net profit of INR 2.64 billion for the December quarter, down over 10% on year but up around 35% sequentially. Its revenue from operations fell around 2% on year and 9% sequentially to INR 45.04 billion. The company will pay an interim dividend of INR 1 per share. The record date for the interim dividend is Feb. 11.
Rail Vikas's total expenses fell over 2% on year to INR 43.86 billion for the reporting quarter. Its expenses on operations fell just over 1% to INR 41.77 billion. Its finance costs fell over 28% on year to INR 1.04 billion. Its other expenses were down around 18% on year to INR 472 million.
For the nine months ended Dec. 31, Rail Vikas reported a net profit of INR 5.88 billion, down around 28% on year. Its revenue for the period was INR 133.64 billion, down over 1% on year. The company declared its December quarter results during market hours. Thursday, shares of the company closed 1.4% lower at INR 316.60 on the National Stock Exchange. End
