MUMBAI – Bajaj Auto Ltd. Tuesday said its total vehicle sales rose 25% on year to 477,422 units in January. The sales were led by a 26% on-year rise in its overall domestic sales at 261,975 units for the month, with the company's overall exports rising 25% on year to 215,447 units. The company's overall two-wheeler sales rose 24% on year to 406,295 units in January and its overall commercial vehicles sales rose 35% on year to 71,127 units, according to an exchange filing by the company.
In December, the company's total sales were 369,809 units, with exports contributing 200,436 units and domestic sales contributing 169,373 units. The company's two-wheeler sales were at 310,353 units in December and its commercial vehicle sales were 59,456 units.
For Apr-Jan, the company reported total sales of 4.22 million units, up 8% on year. However, the company's overall domestic sales fell 1% on year to 2.37 million units, with its domestic two-wheeler sales declining 2% on year to 1.94 million units during the 10-month period. The company's exports rose 20% on year to 1.86 million units during the period. The auto major's two-wheeler sales rose 6% on year to 3.56 million units, with exports in the segment rising 16% on year to 1.61 million units during the 10 months ended January. The company reported 19% on-year growth in its commercial vehicle sales at 667,575 units for the period.
For the quarter ended December, the company reported a net profit of INR 25.03 billion on revenue of INR 152.20 billion. At 0956 IST, shares of the company were 2.5% higher at INR 9,735 on the National Stock Exchange. End
