MUMBAI – Eternal Ltd. Wednesday said founder Deepinder Goyal has resigned as the managing director and chief executive officer of the company and that the resignation would take effect on Feb. 1. The announcement came as part of the company's December quarter earnings annoucnement.
In a letter to shareholders, Goyal said he was drawn to pursue new ideas "that involve significantly higher-risk exploration and experimentation." "These are the kinds of ideas that are better pursued outside a public company like Eternal," Goyal wrote in the letter. "If these ideas belonged inside Eternal's strategic scope, I would have pursued them within the company. They do not. Eternal deserves to remain focused, and disciplined, while exploring new areas of growth that are relevant to its current line of business."
Blinkit CEO Albinder Singh Dhindsa will take over as the CEO of Eternal, the company said. All of Goyal's unvested ESOPs will revert to the ESOP pool, Goyal said. Goyal intends to remain on Eternal's board of directors as vice chairman. Eternal posted a consolidated net profit of INR 1.02 billion for the December quarter, up 73% on year from INR 590 million.
