--Akzo Nobel board redesignates CMD Rajiv Rajgopal as joint MD, CEO
NEW DELHI – The board of Akzo Nobel India Ltd. Friday approved the appointment of Parth Jindal, managing director of JSW Paints Ltd., as a non-executive director and chairman of the company. JSW Paints recently acquired Akzo Nobel India. Akzo Nobel's current Chairman and Managing Director Rajiv Rajgopal will be redesignated joint managing director and chief executive, the company said in an exchange filing.
JSW Paints had acquired an additional 60.76% stake in Akzo Nobel's India operations in late December and currently holds 61.20% in the company. In June, JSW Paints had signed a definitive agreement to buy 74.76% stake in Akzo Nobel's India operations from Akzo Nobel N.V. and affiliates for up to INR 89.86 billion.
Rajgopal has been on the board of Akzo Nobel India as managing director since November 2018. He was reappointed to the post for a further period of five years in November 2023. The company said that except for the redesignation, there are no changes in the terms of appointment approved by shareholders for Rajgopal.
Akzo Nobel also approved the appointment of Shantanu Khosla on the board as an additional director in the independent director category for three years, till Jan. 8, 2029. Khosla is a former managing director of Procter & Gamble India and Crompton Greaves Consumer Electricals Ltd. and a former chairman of the Advertising Standards Council of India.
For the September quarter, Akzo Nobel India had reported a consolidated net profit of INR 16.83 billion on a revenue of INR 8.35 billion. Friday, its shares closed 0.9% lower on the National Stock Exchange at INR 3,133.90. End
