NEW DELHI – P. N. Gadgil Jewellers Ltd.'s total revenue in the December quarter grew almost 36% on year to INR 33.02 billion, the company said in a quarterly update Thursday. Retail segment sales of the company, which accounted for 83.2% of the total revenue in Oct-Dec, grew 46% on year, driven by strong festive and wedding season demand, as per an exchange filing by the company.
In the non-retail segment, e-commerce sales grew 138% on year to account for 5.1% of the company's total revenue in the December quarter and franchisee operations grew 12% on year, accounting for 7.7% of the total sales. The "other segment," which primarily comprises business-to-business bullion sales from the head office and corporate segment of the company, registered a near 49% fall in revenue for the December quarter and accounted for 4% of the total revenue.
The jewellery retailer's same-store sales growth in the December quarter stood at 32%. It launched three exclusive company-owned outlets in Oct-Dec, taking its total store count to 66 as of Dec. 31. P. N. Gadgil Jewellers said it plans to open 12-14 new stores in the March quarter, comprising a mix of company owned and franchisee operated outlets. "These additions will enable us to achieve our target of 78-80 stores by the end of the fiscal year," the company added.
FESTIVE SALES
Dussehra sales of the jewellery retailer totalled INR 1.90 billion, up 64% on year. Dhanteras roped in the highest-ever single-day festive sales for the company at INR 2.77 billion. Total Diwali sales of the jeweller aggregated to INR 6.06 billion, reflecting a 74% year-on-year growth. The company clocked its highest-ever monthly revenue in October at INR 18.07 billion, up 72% on year, the filing said.
For the September quarter, P.N. Gadgil Jewellers reported a consolidated net profit of INR 793.12 million on a consolidated revenue of INR 21.78 billion. At 1244 IST, shares of the company traded 1.7% lower at INR 629.05 on the National Stock Exchange. End
