--Waaree Energies arm raises INR 10 bln from strategic investors

HYDERABAD - Waaree Energies Ltd. on Monday said its wholly owned subsidiary Waaree Energy Storage Solutions Pvt. Ltd. has raised about INR 10 billion from strategic investors to fund its lithium-ion cell and battery manufacturing facility.

In an exchange filing, Waaree said its subsidiary has secured around INR 10.03 billion from a group of strategic investors, including family offices, high net-worth individuals and institutional investors. The fund-raising forms part of the Waaree Group's planned capex of about INR 100 billion to set up a 20 gigawatt advanced lithium-ion cell and battery pack manufacturing plant. The plant is expected to come up in Gujarat, where the company has significant manufacturing and energy business operations.

The facility will produce high-performance cells and battery packs for utility-scale energy storage, electric mobility and distributed energy applications, the company said.

Waaree Energies reported consolidated net profit of INR 8.43 billion for the September quarter on revenue of INR 60.66 billion. On Monday, the company shares ended at INR 2,714.30 on the National Stock Exchange, down 5.3% from their previous close.  End
