NEW DELHI - Samvardhana Motherson International Ltd. Monday said its subsidiary Motherson Electronic Components Pvt. Ltd. has received incentives under the Centre's production-linked incentive scheme for manufacturing electronic components for six years. The incentives will be provided for 2025-26 (Apr-Mar) to FY31, during which time the company will invest INR 19 billion cumulatively.
"MECPL (the subsidiary) is looking to create over 5,000 employment opportunities at its plant in Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu, during the course of these incentives," the company said in an exchange filing.
The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology had approved 22 proposals under the third tranche of this scheme with a projected investment of INR 418.63 billion across eight states. The scheme is aimed at bolstering the domestic ecosystem for critical components and sub-assemblies in a bid to reduce heavy import reliance.
For the September quarter, Samvardhana Motherson had reported a consolidated net profit of INR 8.27 billion on a revenue of INR 301.73 billion. At 1253 IST, shares of the company traded 0.2% higher at INR 122.35 on the National Stock Exchange. End
