NEW DELHI – Eicher Motors Ltd. Thursday said it sold 103,574 Royal Enfield-branded motorcycles to dealerships in December, up 30% on year. This is the strongest on-year growth rate in the company's motorcycle sales in the last three months. The company exported 10,397 motorcycles in December, down 10% on year.
Sales of motorcycles with an engine capacity of up to 350 cubic centimetres stood at 95,480 units in December, up 37% on year. Despatches of motorcycles with engine capacity over 350cc fell 19% on year to 8,094 units. Sales of these premium motorcycles have fallen year-on-year for two consecutive months.
In Apr-Dec, Eicher Motors sold 921,098 Royal Enfield motorcycles to dealerships, up 27% on year. Exports in this period expanded 34% on year to 99,190 units.
The company had reported a consolidated net profit of INR 13.69 billion for the September quarter, up over 24% on year, on revenues of INR 61.72 billion, up 45% on year. At 1304 IST, shares of the company traded 0.5% higher on the National Stock Exchange at INR 7,352. End
