NEW DELHI – Hyundai Motor India Ltd. Tuesday forayed into the commercial mobility segment with the launch of two dedicated taxi models aimed at fleet operators and taxi entrepreneurs at a low cost of ownership and maintenance. The company has launched the Prime HB, a hatchback, and the Prime SD, a sedan, it said in an exchange filing. Prices start from INR 599,900 for Prime HB and INR 689,900 for Prime SD.

 

Both cars will be available in a 1.2-litre Kappa 4-cylinder engine, powered by petrol and compressed natural gas. The Prime HB and Prime SD will come equipped with features such as six airbags and rear air-condition vents. 

 

"Backed by Hyundai's extensive service network, attractive warranty, maintenance packages, low cost of ownership and flexible finance solutions, Prime HB and Prime SD will enable our commercial customers to enhance earnings while offering safe and comfortable mobility to passengers," Hyundai Motor India's Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer-designate Tarun Garg said in a statement. Prime HB and Prime SD will get extended warranty packages of 4th and 5th year, or 180,000 kilometres -- whichever comes first. 


For the September quarter, Hyundai Motor had reported a consolidated net profit of INR 15.72 billion, up 14% on year, and sales were at INR 174.61 billion, up over 1% on year. On Tuesday, its shares closed 0.9% lower on the National Stock Exchange at INR 2,301.60.  End
