NEW DELHI – InterGlobe Aviation Ltd. Wednesday said its budget carrier IndiGo has fully stabilised its operations since Dec. 9 and has been adding capacity steadily within the government's guidelines. The company has been operating 2,100-2,200 flights per day and said it is equipped to cater to surge in demand during the holiday season, according to an exchange filing.
"We are also evaluating additional domestic and international destinations in line with our fleet expansion plans and will share further updates in due course," the company said.
In the first week of this month, IndiGo faced a major operational crisis, cancelling thousands of flights--peaking at over 1,600 cancellations on some days and nearly 4,500 domestic flights over the first 8–10 days of the month--largely due to its failure to adjust crew rostering to new pilot duty-time rules and early winter fog that disrupted schedules, leaving many passengers stranded and prompting regulatory scrutiny and government action.
The company reported a net loss of INR 26.14 billion for the quarter ended September on revenue of INR 185.55 billion. Wednesday, shares of the company closed 1.5% lower on the National Stock Exchange at INR 5,081.50. End
