MUMBAI – Godfrey Phillips India Ltd. Tuesday said it has filed insurance claims of INR 3.44 billion for the loss caused by the fire at the tobacco-processing plant and warehouse of a third party in Andhra Pradesh, where the company processes and stores its tobacco leaf inventory. The actual amount of damage caused by the fire is expected to be within the amount of the claim filed, the company said in an exchange filing.
Since the fire incident, there has been no impact on production at the company's manufacturing facilities and is not expected to have any material impact on the financials. Godfrey Phillips India had reported net profit of INR 3.04 billion for the September quarter on revenue of INR 16.33 billion. Tuesday, shares of the company closed 0.8% lower at INR 2,850.80 on the National Stock Exchange. End
