--GAIL, Chhattisgarh govt signs MoU to develop gas-based fertiliser project

 

MUMBAI – GAIL (India) Ltd. Tuesday said it has signed a non-binding memorandum of understanding with the Chhattisgarh government to develop a greenfield gas-based fertiliser project in the state. As per the agreement, GAIL (India) will undertake detailed studies to set up a 1.27-million-ton urea-manufacturing plant along its Mumbai–Nagpur–Jharsuguda natural gas pipeline corridor. Based on the evaluation, the company will make an investment decision on setting up the project, the gas major said in an exchange filing.

 

The state government will provide support for the project, including for feasibility studies, identification and allocation of suitable land parcels, coordination with state and central authorities, facilitation for statutory approvals, and enabling infrastructure, the company said.

 

The memorandum of understanding was signed in the presence of Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai by Rajat Kumar, secretary of commerce and industries, government of Chhattisgarh, and Rajeev Kumar Singhal, director of business and development, GAIL (India).

 

For the September quarter, the company had reported a net profit of INR 22.17 billion on a revenue of INR 350.31 billion. Tuesday, shares of the company ended marginally higher at INR 172.04 on the National Stock Exchange.  End
