KOLKATA – Radico Khaitan Ltd. Tuesday announced the launch of The Kohinoor Reserve dark rum in India, which it sells globally. The product is a triple-aged rum matured in American Bourbon barrels, Cognac XO casks and Vermouth casks, the company said in an exchange filing.
The rum will first be sold in Uttar Pradesh, then in Karnataka and Delhi. "The rum category in India is a significant and growing sector, with consumers increasingly gravitating toward richer, more complex dark rum expressions," Abhishek Khaitan, managing director of Radico Khaitan, said in the filing.
The rum is rooted in centuries-old Indian rum-making traditions and inspired by the legendary Kohinoor diamond, the company said. Distilled in small batches from fresh cane juice sourced during the North Indian winter, the spirit undergoes a meticulous ageing process, first in American Bourbon casks and then finished in Cognac XO and Vermouth casks, creating a rare, layered profile crafted exclusively for discerning connoisseurs, the company said.
The brand draws inspiration from the historic ‘Mountain of Light' diamond, commonly known as the Kohinoor, symbolising rarity, purity and prestige. The bottle mirrors this identity with a sculpted, multi-faceted structure reminiscent of a brilliantly cut gem, the company said.
During the September quarter, Radico Khaitan's net profit surged 69% on year to INR 1.39 billion and revenue from operations, net of excise duty, jumped 34% to INR 14.94 billion.
Tuesday, shares of Radico Khaitan closed 0.1% lower at INR 3,267.30 on the National Stock Exchange. End
