NEW DELHI – Following is a summary of decisions by key central banks this week till Friday:

 

BANK OF ENGLAND

The Bank of England's Monetary Policy Committee Thursday voted 5-4 to lower the benchmark interest rate by 25 basis points to 3.75%. The was the central bank's fourth and last interest rate cut of 2025.

 

EUROPEAN CENTRAL BANK

The European Central Bank Thursday left interest rates unchanged. The interest rates on the deposit facility, the main refinancing operations, and the marginal lending facility remained unchanged at 2.00%, 2.15%, and 2.40%, respectively.


BANK INDONESIA

Bank Indonesia Wednesday left its benchmark seven-day reverse repo rate unchanged at 4.75%. The decision was on expected lines. This was the third straight meeting when the central bank has kept rates unchanged.

 

BANK OF JAPAN

The Bank of Japan Friday raised the overnight call rate by 25 basis points to 0.75%, in the first rate hike since January. At 0.75%, interest rates in Japan are at a 30-year-high. The central bank signalled it may continue to raise rates if growth and inflation turn out to be as per projections.

 

BANCO DE MEXICO

The Bank of Mexico's governing board Thursday lowered the benchmark interest rate by 25 bps to 7%, the lowest level in more than three years. Four of the five members of the central bank's board voted for a 25-bps rate cut.

 

CENTRAL BANK OF RUSSIA

Russia's central bank Friday lowered its benchmark interest rate by 50 bps to 16%. The central bank said it will maintain monetary conditions as tight as required to return inflation to the target of 4% from 6.6% in November.
