RIL arm Reliance Consumer acquires majority stake in Udhaiyams Agro Foods

NEW DELHI – The fast-moving consumer goods arm of Reliance Industries Ltd.–-Reliance Consumer Products Ltd.–-has acquired majority stake in Udhaiyams Agro Foods Pvt. Ltd., the parent company said in an exchange filing Thursday. Erstwhile promoters S. Sudhakar and S. Dinakar will continue to hold minority stake in the company, Reliance Industries added. The company did not disclose financial details of the deal.

 

"We are very excited to announce this joint venture, as it further strengthens RCPL's presence in the branded staples space... I am sure that Udhaiyam will soon scale up to a national brand and satisfy consumers across India, just as it has earned the trust of millions in Tamil Nadu over decades," Reliance Consumer Products Director T. Krishnakumar said in a press release. 

 

For the quarter ended September, Reliance Industries had reported a consolidated net profit of INR 181.65 billion on a revenue of INR 2.59 trillion. Thursday, shares of the company ended flat on the National Stock Exchange at INR 1,544.40.  End
