NEW DELHI – The Ministry of Labour and Employment has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Microsoft under which over 15,000 Microsoft partners will come onboard the National Career Services portal as job providers, Labour Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said Wednesday.
"We welcome Microsoft's commitment to partnering with India to strengthen digital architecture," the minister said in a post on X, formerly Twitter. "We will also leverage Microsoft's AI (artificial intelligence) expertise to further establish NCS (National Career Services) portal as a one-stop-solution for international mobility of our skilled workforce," Mandaviya said after meeting Microsoft Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Satya Nadella.
Nadella, in a separate post, said that he is "struck" by how artificial intelligence is already having "profound impact" on people's lives. "A great example is our partnership with the @LabourMinistry to help connect more than 300 million informal workers to better jobs and social security, showing what's possible when technology empowers people at scale," Nadella said.
On Tuesday, Microsoft announced it is investing $17.5 billion towards artificial intelligence infrastructure in India. End
