NEW DELHI – Amazon will invest over $35 billion in India by 2030 across all its businesses, building on the nearly $40 billion invested in the country so far. This investment will focus on business expansion as well as three strategic pillars – artificial intelligence-driven digitisation, export growth, and job creation.

"These investments are strategically aligned with India's national priorities and will focus on expanding AI capabilities, enhancing logistics infrastructure, supporting small business growth and creating jobs," the American tech giant said in a statement. Amazon also said it has helped generate more than $20 billion in cumulative exports for sellers in India in the last ten years, and plans to increase that to $80 billion by 2030.

"Looking ahead, we're excited to continue being a catalyst for India's growth, as we democratise access to AI for millions of Indians, create 1 million job opportunities, and quadruple cumulative ecommerce exports enabled to $80 billion by 2030," Amit Agarwal, senior vice president – emerging markets, Amazon, said.

India is a key market for Amazon, with an ever-expanding consumer base. Amazon's investment announcement in India comes a day after Microsoft Chief Executive Officer Satya Nadella announced a $17.5 billion investment in AI and cloud infrastructure in India on Tuesday.  End
