Invested INR 2.5 tln from national pension plan AUM in infra sector - Govt

NEW DELHI – Pension fund managers, under the guidance of the Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority, have invested INR 2.48 trillion from the total corpus under the National Pension System in the infrastructure sector, the finance ministry said Monday. The INR-2.48-trillion investment till September end has been made over the last five years, Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary said in a written response to the Lok Sabha. 

 

According to data from NPS Trust, the total corpus under the National Pension System is INR 15.70 trillion. Pension Funds invest National Pension System funds in various asset classes like government securities, corporate debt securities, equities, asset-backed securities, trust structured investments and miscellaneous investments.

 

"...pension funds have the fiduciary responsibility to prudently invest the funds so as to maximise returns and minimise volatility and risks," the minister said.

 

There are 10 pension fund managers operating under PFRDA – LIC Pension Fund Ltd., SBI Pension Funds Pvt. Ltd., UTI Pension Fund Ltd., HDFC Pension Fund Management Ltd., ICICI Prudential Pension Funds Management Co. Ltd., Kotak Mahindra Pension Fund Ltd., Aditya Birla Sun Life Pension Fund Management Ltd., TATA Pension Fund Management Pvt Ltd., Axis Pension Fund Management Ltd., and DSP Pension Fund Managers Pvt. Ltd.  End
