IMD sees cold wave conditions over parts of MP, Chhattisgarh, Odisha Tue-Fri

MUMBAI – Cold wave conditions are very likely to prevail over parts of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Odisha from Tuesday to Friday under the influence of a subtropical westerly jet stream prevailing over northeast India, the India Meteorological Department said. The subtropical westerly jet stream is a high-velocity westerly wind belt which contributes to cool and dry weather.
Cold wave conditions are also likely over Punjab from Wednesday to Friday, over Vidarbha and Telangana on Tuesday and Wednesday, and over Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, north Rajasthan, central Maharashtra and Marathawada on Thursday and Friday, the weather department said.
Dense fog conditions are very likely to prevail during the early morning hours in parts of Assam and Manipur from Tuesday to Saturday and over east Uttar Pradesh and Odisha on Tuesday and Wednesday, the weather department said.
A gradual fall in minimum temperature by 2 degrees Celsius is likely over the plains of northwest India over the next two days, followed by no change for the subsequent two days, and a rise by 2–4 degrees Celsius thereafter in the subsequent three days. In central India, no significant change in minimum temperature is expected for the next four days and thereafter a rise by 2–3 degrees Celsius is seen over the next three days.
In Maharashtra, a gradual fall in minimum temperature is likely by 2–3 degrees Celsius in the next four days. No significant change in minimum temperature over Gujarat, east, and northeast India is likely during the next five days, the weather department said. End
