IMD forecasts cold-wave conditions over parts of Punjab, Haryana Sun

MUMBAI – The India Meteorological Department has forecast cold-wave conditions to prevail over some parts of Punjab and Haryana on Sunday and again on Wednesday and Thursday. Similar conditions are likely over parts of west Madhya Pradesh and Vidarbha till Monday and east Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Odisha on Sunday, IMD said.
The weather bureau also expects dense fog conditions to prevail during early morning hours in some pockets of Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura till Thursday, Himachal Pradesh till Tuesday and over Odisha till Monday.
In terms of minimum temperatures, the weather department said that a rise in minimum temperature by 2-3 degrees Celsius is likely over many parts of northwest India during the next two days and fall by 3-5 degrees Celsius during subsequent three days and no significant change thereafter. No significant change in minimum temperature is likely over many parts of central India during next 24 hours and a rise by about 2 degrees Celsius during subsequent three days, it said.
In west India, temperature is likely to fall by 2-3 degrees Celsius with no significant change thereafter. The department expects no significant change in minimum temperature likely over remaining parts of the country.
Meanwhile, moderate rainfall and snowfall are very likely over parts of Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad and Uttarakhand till Monday and Himachal Pradesh on Sunday, IMD said. Moderate rainfall accompanied with thunderstorm and lightning is also likely over parts of Tamil Nadu till Sunday and Lakshadweep on Saturday, it said. End
