India Oct tea production down over 21% YoY at 161.93 mln kg, says Tea Board

MUMBAI – Production of tea in India fell over 21% on year to 161.93 million kg in October, according to provisional data released by the Tea Board India. The country had produced 205.77 million kg of tea in October 2024.
Tea production in north Indian states fell nearly 22% on year to 142.07 million kg in October. At 90.98 million kg, Assam accounted for 56% of the country's total production in October. West Bengal accounted for over 28% of the total output at 46.07 million kg, the data showed. Assam's production fell nearly 21% on year while West Bengal's production fell nearly 25% in October.
Tea production in southern India fell 18% on year to 19.86 million kg in October. Tamil Nadu's tea production fell over 22% on year to 14.17 million kg. Karnataka produced 310,000 kg of tea while Kerala produced 5.38 million kg, the data showed. The Tea Board did not provide data on total tea produced in Jan-Oct. End
