NEW DELHI – Indian Railways loaded 135.7 million tonnes of freight in November, up 4.2% on year, the Ministry of Railways said Tuesday. Growth was driven by higher transport of pig iron, finished steel, iron ore, fertilisers, and containers.

Freight loading in Apr-Nov rose 3.3% to 1.07 billion tonnes. "This milestone is particularly significant given that the Indian Railways has moved more freight in just eight months of FY 2025–26 than it did in the entire year of 2013–14, when total loading stood at 1,055 million tonnes," the ministry said in a release.  End
