Rise in Hero MotoCorp Nov 2-wheeler despatches overcomes Oct YoY fall

AHMEDABAD – Festival demand, cut in goods and services tax, and positive consumer sentiment across urban and rural markets in November helped Hero MotoCorp. Ltd. turn around contraction in growth it saw in October. The despatches of two-wheelers saw a near 32% on-year jump in November, both on domestic and exports front, according to the company's exchange filing Monday.
Hero MotoCorp sold 604,490 two-wheelers in November, up 31.5% on year. A month ago, it had recorded a 6% year-on-year contraction. Of the 604,490 units, the company sold 570,520 of them in India, up 30% on year. Exports, which form a little over 5% of the company's overall sales, grew 70% on year to 33,970 units.
The company sold 539,128 motorcycles in November, up 26.6% on year. Motorcycles account for over 90% of the company's overall two-wheeler sales. "Supported by GST benefits, conducive macro-economic landscape, and revival in rural ownership and spending, the two-wheeler market continued to maintain a healthy traction during the month," the company said in a press release.
Hero MotoCorp sold 65,362 scooters in November, the most since October 2020 when it had sold 74,350 units. Hero MotoCorp's scooter sales grew 92.5% on year--its seventh consecutive month of a double-digit sales growth.
APR-NOV SALES
The company sold 4.3 million two-wheelers in Apr-Nov, up 2.5% from the corresponding period a year ago. Of this, domestic sales stood at 4.1 million units, up just over 0.5% on year. Exports increased to 240,946 units, up 55% on year.
Motorcycle despatches in this period fell to 3.9 million units, down 0.2% on year. In contrast, scooter despatches grew 40% on year in Apr-Nov to 385,923 units.
For the quarter ended September, Hero MotoCorp had reported a net profit of INR 13.93 billion on a revenue of INR 121.26 billion. On Monday, shares of the company closed up nearly 2% at INR 6,295 on the National Stock Exchange. End
