HYDERABAD - Public sector iron ore major NMDC Ltd. achieved 4% year-on-year growth in its November iron ore sales to 4.2 million tonnes, a company source told Informist. NMDC's iron ore output for November rose 11% on year to 5 million tonnes. Steady demand from domestic steel companies and availability of railway rakes helped the company report growth in sales, the source said.

On a cumulative basis, the company's Apr-Nov total iron ore sales touched 30.3 million tonnes, up 9% on year and output was up 20% on year to 31.5 million tonnes. The rise in output is in line with the company's strategy to build inventory and improve sales volumes in the coming months to reach its 55 million tonnes sales target by the end of March, the source said.

At 1420 IST, NMDC shares were trading at INR 75.50 on the National Stock Exchange, up 2.1% from the previous close.  End
