AHMEDABAD - Escorts Kubota Ltd. sold 10,580 tractors in November, up 17.9% on year, the company said in a monthly business update Monday. Of this, 10,122 units were sold to domestic dealerships while 458 were sold overseas, it added. The company's international tractor sales jumped nearly 88% on year, while its domestic sales grew nearly 16% on year in November.

"The tractor industry continued its upward trajectory in November, supported by government initiatives, reduced GST (goods and services tax) rates and subsidies on agricultural machinery, which have made tractors more affordable for farmers," the company said. The retail sales, too, experienced a "notable" increase as the Kharif harvesting season came to a close and Rabi sowing advanced smoothly. Improved reservoir levels from last year have guaranteed ample water supply, setting a promising outlook for the upcoming season. "Moving forward, we anticipate sustained growth for the remainder of the fiscal year," the company said.

For the eight months ended November, the company's overall tractor sales grew over 12% on year to 93,836 units. Domestic sales during the period grew over 11% to 89,722 units, while exports rose over 52% on year to 4,114 units.

Sales of its construction equipment fell 6% on year to 452 units in November. In Apr-Nov, its sales fell 20% on year to 3,105 units.

The construction equipment industry continued to face headwinds, driven by prolonged monsoons, sluggish project mobilisation, and depressed rental rates. "Looking ahead, we expect a gradual improvement supported by government initiatives aimed at enhancing fund flow for infrastructure projects and stimulating industrial activity," Escorts Kubota said.

For the September quarter, Escorts Kubota reported a net profit of INR 3.21 billion on a revenue of INR 27.77 billion. At 0948 IST, shares of the company traded over 1% higher at INR 3,858.60 on the National Stock Exchange. End
