MUMBAI – InterGlobe Aviation Ltd. Saturday said the company is undertaking all required inspections and updates to its A320 family aircraft, in full accordance with directives issued by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency and aircraft manufacturer Airbus. A total of 200 aircraft were identified for these checks, of which checks have been completed in 160 aircraft as of 1200 IST, the operator of IndiGo airline said in a press statement Saturday. Inspections on the remaining aircraft are progressing well and will be completed within the timeline, the company added.
InterGlobe Aviation confirmed that no flights were cancelled due to these checks. However, a few flights may experience minimal delays, it said. These checks follows a technical advisory issued by aircraft manufacturer Airbus on Friday, saying that intense solar radiation could corrupt data critical to flight control in a significant number of their A320 aircraft currently in service.
Earlier in the day, the Director General of Civil Aviation issued a safety order, barring all A319, A320, and A321 flights until urgent software or hardware modifications mandated by an Airbus safety alert are carried out. As many as 338 A320 family aircraft operated by Indian airlines required the software upgrade to address a potential issue related to flight controls, media reports said, citing DGCA data.
For the quarter ended September, InterGlobe Aviation reported a net loss of INR 26.14 billion on a revenue of INR 185.55 billion. On Friday, shares of InterGlobe Aviation closed marginally lower at INR 5,901.50 on the National Stock Exchange. End
