Bank loans to farm sector grow 8.9% on year as of Oct 31, shows RBI data

MUMBAI – Bank credit to agriculture and allied activities saw a growth of 8.9% on year as on Oct. 31 compared with that of 15.5% a year ago, data released by the Reserve Bank of India Friday showed.
Bank loans to industry grew 10.0% on year, as on Oct. 31, compared with 8.1% from a year ago. Loans to micro, small and medium industries grew 10% as on Oct. 31. Loans to the services sector grew 13.0% on year from 12.5% a year ago.
Credit growth to non-banking financial companies grew 11%. Credit to personal loans segment grew 14.0% on year, from 12.9% a year ago. This rise in growth was largely due to a rise in loans to housing, loans against gold jewellery and vehicle loans. End
