India, UAE review market access issue, data sharing under economic partnership pact

NEW DELHI – India and the United Arab Emirates held a meeting to review progress of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement between the two countries. At the third meeting of the joint committee under the India–UAE Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement here, the two sides discussed market access issues, data sharing, allocation of gold tariff rate quota, anti-dumping matters, services, rules of origin, and Bureau of Indian Standards licensing, a government release said.
India also briefed the UAE on its recent decision to allocate gold tariff rate quota through a transparent competitive bidding process. "Both sides reaffirmed shared commitment to expanding non-oil/non precious metal trade towards the $100 billion target by 2030," the release said.
Discussions also covered regulatory cooperation in pharmaceuticals, resolution of issues related to certificates of origin, and early signing of the memorandum of understanding on food safety and technical requirements between India's Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority and UAE's Ministry of Climate Change and Environment.
The meeting concluded with both sides agreeing to strengthen trade facilitation, regulatory collaboration, data sharing and the convening of the services subcommittee meeting. Bilateral trade between the two nations crossed $100.06 billion in 2024–25 (Apr-Mar). End
