NEW DELHI – The Securities and Exchange Board of India has extended the deadline to submit comments on the proposed complete overhaul of mutual fund regulations till Monday. "Based on the representations received by SEBI, it has been decided to extend the time to submit the public comments on the aforesaid consultation paper till Nov. 24," the market regulator said.
The proposed norms aim to simplify the 29-year-old regulatory framework, reduce compliance burden, and strengthen investor protection, the regulator had said earlier. The previous deadline to submit comments on the consultation paper was Nov. 17.
Key proposals in the consultation paper include simplifying eligibility criteria for mutual fund sponsors and their registration and standardising the roles and responsibilities of trustees and asset management companies. The regulator has also proposed that mutual funds send their annual reports and summaries digitally. End
