India Oct natural gas output down 5% on year, LNG imports down 23%

MUMBAI – India produced 2.95 billion standard cubic metres of natural gas in October, down over 5% on year, according to data released by the Petroleum Planning and Analysis Cell. Gross production of natural gas in Apr-Oct was 20.54 billion standard cubic metres, down more than 3% from a year ago.
In October, India imported 2.81 billion standard cubic metres of liquefied natural gas, down nearly 23% on year. For Apr-Oct, the report showed India imported 19.79 billion standard cubic metres of LNG, down around 13% from a year ago. The country's imports of liquefied natural gas in October amounted to $1.2 billion, down from $1.6 billion during the same period a year ago. In Apr–Oct, the country imported liquefied natural gas worth $8 billion, down from $9.2 billion in the year-ago period.
The country's import dependence fell to 49.1% in October from 54.1% in the year-ago period, the data showed. Meanwhile, the country's consumption of natural gas in October declined around 15% on year to 5.72 billion standard cubic metres and consumption of natural gas in Apr-Oct fell over 8% to 40.07 billion standard cubic metres, the data showed.
